Third Floor (Grades 4-6)
Lori, Chris & Nancy Welcome you to the 3rd floor page.
October has just begun but it has been packed with lots of learning and fun. We continue to explore and research both the ancient and modern day continent of Africa. In history students practiced an ancient written language called cuneiform using clay and sticks. This writing was developed by Sumerians in ancient Mesopotania. Stop by and see their work in the hallway. They have made beautiful maps and are working hard to learn the countries, capitals and their locations on this amazing continent. We recently had a guest speaker who has spent nearly 4 years in Africa. Keisha is Cassidy’s cousin and has spent time in Maliwi, Sierra Leone and Zambia. She shared with students about current culture, political issues, and everyday life of the people of Zambia. This helped all of us gain an appreciation for our life in America! As for recess…fall weather allows for many victories and defeats in the yard. This year four square and pickle have been the favorites, however football is quickly gaining popularity. We have even been seeing some gloved quarterbacks and receivers, and lots of rookies are joining the game as well! As long as weather permits, we are soaking up all the sunshine we can get. Last Friday proved to be one of those beautiful fall days. The 3rd floor students enjoyed an afternoon of fishing with supplies and helpful instruction from John (Will’s dad). Thanks for all the support from family and friends as we strive to provide these students with a love of learning
Have a great week!
